STATEMENT RELEASED TODAY BY LYRF:
On this tax day in Louisiana the Louisiana Young Republican Federation calls upon the Louisiana House of Representatives to immediately pass Senate Bill 87 which would immediately repeal the state income tax.
LYRF Chairman, Audra Shay commented “When too many of our youth are getting educated and then leaving Louisiana for states like Texas and Florida which have no income tax, missing this opportunity to abolish the state income tax puts an undue burden on our citizens. When our Legislature feels that we have enough disposable income to request earmarks such as the one in House Bill 1 that would earmark $20,000 for the American Muslim Mission of Baton Rouge, which is what the Nation of Islam called themselves after 1980, for a year-round farmers market in old south Baton Rouge, then we certainly can’t justify a tax on productiveness in our state.”
The Louisiana Young Republican Federation is a group of young professionals, ages 18-40 who are dedicated to the Republican cause of less Government, lower taxes, strong national defense, personal liberties and personal responsibility.
