The clock is ticking and as we inch closer to election day, the battle for the 12th district senate seat is a race of mounting concern to THE DEAD PELICAN.
For many years now, outgoing Senator Ben Nevers has been a staunch supporter of the Washington Parish Reservoir commission.
This commission has been aggressively seeking to seize homes in the area through abuse of imminent domain laws, all in order to build a reservoir that the district doesn't need!
Ben Nevers has chosen his successor, one Mickey Murphy who is certain to continue the Nevers agenda should he win.
The reservoir project is just one of many "good ole boy," crony capitalist deals that Beth Mizell would put a stop to. Mizell is a conservative Republican running against Mickey Murphy, the Democrat.
Residents in the 12th district have been fighting Murphy and Nevers' corrupt land grab for many years. A recent confrontation between residents and the reservoir commission was captured in July and can be found here.Developing...
