FLEMING’S FIRST QUARTERLY CAMPAIGN FINANCIAL REPORT MAKES HIM LEADING OPPONENT
TO CASSIDY IN GOP SENATE PRIMARY RACE
4/15/2025-- 3:OO PM CDT BATON ROUGE, LA --State Treasurer John Fleming MD, candidate for the U.S. Senate in next spring’s Republican primary, has reported over 2.2 million dollars in cash raised and loaned to his campaign against incumbent Bill Cassidy, according to a campaign finance report Fleming’s campaign filed with the Federal Election Commission.
Fleming, who recently announced his candidacy in December, has a war chest of $2,200,529.48 clearly thrusting him into position as the leading opponent to Cassidy in the Republican primary to be held in April 2026.
Fleming reported $263,194.00 raised, almost exclusively from individuals, in just the first three months of 2025. Fleming also personally loaned two million dollars to his campaign.
“The issues faced in the United States Senate are serious ones for our nation’s future,” Fleming commented, “and this election is critical to ensuring President Trump has another Louisiana senator who will stand firmly for the MAGA agenda and putting America first.” “Serious issues create serious elections, and I am committed in my fight to win this election and represent the conservative beliefs and values of Louisiana citizens in the United States Senate,” Fleming continued. “As evidenced here, I am in it to win it,” Fleming said.
Sen. Bill Cassidy voted to convict President Trump in the second impeachment trial.
According to a poll conducted in February by JMC Analytics, Fleming would comfortably win in a head-to-head Senate primary race against Cassidy if the election were held today. (The poll is provided below in this email.)
Fleming served northwest Louisiana in the United States House of Representatives from 2009-2016, where he built a reputation as an outspoken and leading fiscal and social conservative. Fleming was one of nine founders of the House Freedom Caucus, a group of fiscal conservatives who opposed the Obama Administration spending practices, and took the lead to defend Trump when he was accused of Russian collusion.
Fleming served in several capacities in the first Trump Administration including as Deputy Chief of Staff to President Trump in the White House.
Fleming was overwhelmingly elected as Louisiana State Treasurer in the 2023 statewide election, receiving 65 percent of the vote. Recently, as State Treasurer, Fleming commenced a transparency website for all Louisiana public and charter schools detailing their expenditures and performance for public scrutiny. Besides his tenure in public office, John Fleming is a board-certified Family Physician from Minden, Louisiana, and has built several successful small businesses in Louisiana. Fleming previously served as an officer in the United States Navy.
“This election gives Louisiana the opportunity to send a clear, conservative message to the rest of our nation, pro-business, pro-conservative values, pro-Second Amendment and pro-Trump,” Fleming said. “I am a consistent conservative that Louisiana citizens can count on to always vote FOR conservative and MAGA policies in Washington,” Fleming concluded.
